Position Profile: Senior Fashion Designer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Fashion Designer to lead our design team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fashion design, an excellent eye for detail, and the ability to translate current trends into innovative and marketable fashion products. As a Senior Fashion Designer, you will play a crucial role in the development of seasonal collections, overseeing the design process from concept to final product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development:
- Lead the design and development of seasonal collections, ensuring alignment with brand identity and market trends.
- Create original designs that resonate with our target audience, incorporating fabric, color, and pattern.
- Oversee the development of mood boards, sketches, and prototypes.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to ensure designs meet market needs and customer expectations.
- Trend Analysis & Research:
- Conduct trend research to stay current with industry developments and competitors.
- Analyze consumer behaviors to anticipate future trends and design opportunities.
- Attend fashion shows, trade shows, and fabric fairs to gather inspiration and stay updated on market trends.
- Team Leadership:
- Mentor and guide junior designers, providing feedback and ensuring their growth and development.
- Manage and coordinate with cross-functional teams including production, marketing, and sales.
- Ensure that design projects meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Technical Design & Fit:
- Work closely with the technical design team to ensure that designs are translated accurately into garments.
- Oversee fittings and make necessary adjustments to ensure the best fit and finish.
- Ensure that all products meet quality standards and brand specifications.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Present design concepts and ideas to the Creative Director and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to source fabrics, trims, and other materials.
- Work with the marketing team to create compelling narratives around the collections.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in fashion design, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead designer role.
- Proven track record of successful collections and design innovation.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and textiles.
- Proficient in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD.
- Excellent sketching and illustration skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred:
- Experience working with both men's and women's fashion.
- Knowledge of sustainable fashion practices.
- Strong network within the fashion industry.
